The Development Assistant will provide the full range of direct administrative support to Development Directors for programs within the Health Sciences Development (HSD) office. This support will include office management, budget reconciliation, event planning, donor database maintenance, reporting functions and other duties as assigned. This individual will interact directly with all office clientele, including community leaders, donors, volunteers, faculty and staff. 

Job Requirements/Qualification:

1. Prior experience in a donor relations and/or fundraising environment.

2. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to organize work, set priorities and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

3. Ability to manage, organize, plan and follow through on projects under general guidance and supervision.

4. Ability to maintain confidentiality and to use discretion when responding to inquiries.

5. Must maintain a reliable and predictable work schedule to best accommodate efficiency of department needs.

6. Excellent interpersonal and verbal skills to work effectively with volunteers, donors, faculty and staff.

7. Strong writing skills with demonstrated proficiency in English language usage and in the composition of correspondence.

8. Ability to research, analyze, and gather data sufficient to prepare concise, logical summaries and reports across a variety of topics.

9. Affinity for technology and computers (ex., Work Excel, PowerPoint and MS Outlook; understanding of exporting data and mail merges); with the ability and eagerness to quickly learn software and systems.

10. Ability to coordinate special events, including securing location, planning menus, and making arrangements with caterers and vendors. Also, compose invitation list and track RSVPs.

11. Ability to work occasional evenings and/or weekends as required for special events.

12. Knowledge of development principles and University procedures is preferred.
