Living Healthy In A Busy World

Living healthy while leading a busy life is hard. Today's economy requires us to work hard and play little. Finding ways to fit in good food, exercise and play can be tricky.

Your job needs you, your spouse needs you, your kids need you. You often feel like you are being pulled in so many directions. Ultimately, if you don't take the time to take care of you everyone including you suffers. Your body needs food, exercise and downtime to recharge and repair. Living healthy in a busy world means taking that time and giving yourself what you need to keep going.

Here are a few ways you can fit in time for you and your own health. Incorporating healthy eating, exercise and me time can be easy if you make time:

Start a new tradition, mornings - Even if you've never been a morning person, this is a good time to become one. If you get up an hour earlier than the rest of the world that time is just yours and yours alone. Use this time to read a book, watch a movie and just relax before you start your day. Living healthy means getting moving.

Eat breakfast - This is singlehandedly the most important meal of the day. If you find yourself eating bad during work hours, try to pack in good nutrients early in the day. This will help prevent binge eating and snacking. Eat a variety of protein, fruits and whole grains. For example; yogurt with granola, a hard boiled egg and whole grain toast. Wash it all down with a smoothie or juice instead of coffee. Living healthy means eating healthy.

Use breaks for walking - Living healthy means adding in some exercise to your day. If you can't fit in a workout at the gym, use your break time at work to take a brisk stroll around outside. Nothing beats fresh air, exercise and a little down time for yourself. Living healthy means exercise, even if its just a little.

Sack lunches are boring - I know this. I feel you. Sack lunches with dry sandwiches and boring sides get very old quickly. You can pep up packed lunches by first, getting an exciting lunch container. Try to find something that has little serving containers that you can take pasta or green salad in. Instead of sandwiches, try wraps. Or you can pack up leftover dinner items from the night before. Do anything you can to avoid fast food! But never skip lunch or any meals. Living healthy means eating healthy.

Give evening time to your family - Mornings are now yours. You have claimed that as your "me time." You need some time to connect with your loved ones or any social circles if you are single. If you have a family, get them together for a family activity or even just discuss the days current events. The important thing is keeping connections in your life so that life doesn't get dull and boring. Sometimes dull and boring is good, but not for too long. Living healthy means connecting to others.


Living healthy only takes a few minor changes at a time. You don't have to do the above steps all at once or every day, but incorporating just a few changes can make you feel happier and better about life!
